Supporting the troops by sending Roses!
Entreprenuer and mall retailer, Clif Menter, just wrapped up a successful
promotion at his five mall stores selling handmade wooden roses which will be
sent along with a message from the purchaser to the soldiers overseas. Menter
selected LINE OF DESIGN for public relations support and succeeded in helping
both the AdoptaPlatoon Soldier Support Effort™ and the families of the soldiers trying to send that special messsage on V-Day.
With their loved ones overseas, and unable to be home for Valentine’s Days military families are rallying to send affectionate good wishes by
sending flowers. Clif Menter, a local entrepreneur, has opened five stores
trying to help the families of soldiers and the AdoptaPlatoon Soldier Support
Effort™ a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization. The Enchanted Rose kiosk stores promote a program called A Gift From The Heart
whereby a person can buy a handmade wooden rose for one dollar and send it
along with a message to a military person in Iraq.
Menter says, “the response so far has been very moving. People are having tears run down their
face as they write note to accompany the rose.” With a $1.00 donation for a rose and the sender may attach a note to a soldier
in Iraq. Fifty percent of the money goes to charity on Fort Drum to help wives
of military personal, other fifty percent goes to shipping roses via the
AdoptaPlatoon organization.
The AdoptaPlatoon Soldier Support Effort,™ founded in 1998, is managed nationwide by volunteer mothers to ensure that
deployed United States Service members in all branches of the military are not
forgotten by providing needed mail support and to promote patriotism in our
schools and communities.
People have asked “Will the roses arrive in Iraq on time?” Clif's response has been, “I’m a Vietnam veteran, and if I had received a rose, I understand what it would
have meant to me no matter what day I received it.” Menter has been asked if he will continue the fund-raising effort after
Valentine’s Day. “With the strong need to support the troops and their families, while I am
closing the stores after Valentine’s Day, I am going to consider all options to continuing the A Gift From The
Heart program.”
About LINE OF DESIGN, Clif said to Jim Terrinoni, marketing/communication
strategist, “I can't thank you enough for moving on this project with speed and
professionalism. Great job again. Looking forward to working with you!”
